Mitsubishi F1M2.
The last biplane of the Imperial Japanese Navy.
This one was chosen as a biplane, and had a bare metal skin.
I was thrilled by that!
I started building the F1M2 in November 2023.
This is a completely new model for me.
I was originally building a prototype for the US Navy, but I cheated on the F1M2...
This is not a prototype, which is my belief, or an airplane that was never built...
However, it is also my mission to revive a famous aircraft that existed long ago in 3D.
And at the beginning of August this month, I finished building the model and painting the textures.
The next task is to breathe life into this model...
What that means is to give the F1M2 flight performance and flight dynamics.
The F1M2 has a maximum 800 horsepower engine and must fly at 370 km/h and to an altitude of 5,000 meters in 9 and a half minutes.
And the fuel economy is 623 liters, and it flies about 1000 km.
I failed at this task many times, and a week has passed...
Today, a few minutes after I started the engine, it caught fire!!
Even the cockpit was on fire!!
Fun engine tuning, that's the charm of FSX.
Oh, I wonder how many more days it will take to finish...
