This is the Fairchild EWR AVS A-400, "Advanced Vertical Attack Fighter", a project that was cancelled in 1968.
It's a variable-wing VSTOL fighter.
It was a joint US-German effort, but nothing.
I learned about it from an aviation magazine I read as a child.
This project later became the European Tornado.
I was fascinated by the AVS A-400, and decades later I decided to realise my childhood dream in 3D.
About a week after I started, an image appeared in my head.
The stripes are to confirm the shape.
It's hard to model an airplane like this that doesn't exist in reality.
Because you build most of it from your imagination.
I'm a person from the future who knows modern aircraft technology, so I can't use today's designs in 1968.
My AVS project is just a break.
If I persevere, I think I can see it through to completion, but I might give up along the way, haha!
